VID Music Sports#6: Kishi Bashi, looping virtuoso

Kishi Bashi has learned to leverage his string playing skills with looping.

Looping is a simple technique – it involves recording a snippet of sound, playing it back, and then adding layers. Used masterfully, it can become transformative, producing rhythms and layers and letting solo artists accompany themselves.

He is a founding member of Jupiter One, as well as a touring member of Of Montreal and Regina Spektor.

[via CreateDigitalMusic which has an article where you can learn more about looping.] (I first saw looping used in this way by Intonarumori about 10 years ago – he was using a Boomerang.)

VID Neil Young 2002 Eifel concert

Neil Young fans will hear plenty to like in this 2.5-hour Rock Am Ring concert shot Eifel, Germany on May 18, 2002. With Frank Sampedro on guitar, Booker T. Jones on keyboards and Donald “Duck” Dunn playing bass … nice “help” when you can get it!
