Oramics to Electronica: Revealing Histories of Electronic Music
London’s Science Museum has opened an exhibition about Daphne Oram and her optical synthesizer. Daphne founded the BBC Radiophonic Workshop (where Delia created the Dr. Who theme), then left because the Beeb lacked appreciation for her vision. She went on to make commercial and art music.
After she died, her gear was left sadly neglected for years. Glad to see these photos of how it’s all been restored (*) (just like Bletchley Park)! The exhibition is open through Dec. 1, 2012.
