On July 11, 1955 he records I Forgot to Remember to Forget at Sun Studio. It’s a US country #1 the following February.

On January 10, 1956 he records Tommy Durden and Mae Boren Axton song Heartbreak Hotel at RCA Victor, a session helped out by Chet Atkins on guitar, and Floyd Cramer on piano.

it’s quickly his first US#1 and first million-seller. The rest is history and an ocean of opinion.  ( Website ( Elvis at Throughhisown’s )

There never was nor has been anything like it. The ambient adventures began in 1973 as ‘Music from the Hearts of Space’, a weekly 3-hour show on Berkeley’s KPFA-FM produced by Stephen Hill. ▷WAER note▹

The worldwide advent of relatively inexpensive synths and increasing commercial appeal of the sound (e.g. Vangelis) made possible an explosion of ambient explorations. Early shows feature dozens of talents like Constance Demby, Stomu Yamashta, Kitaro and Danna & Clement. By 1986 it’s airing on over 200 stations; it still airs on over 100.
