In Philadelphia, this poster’s worth a LOT more than 50 bucks.

Release of John Landis comedy film The Blues Brothers (*), starring Saturday Night Live regulars John Belushi and Dan Akroyd.

Jake and Elwood take on ‘a mission from God’ to save the Roman Catholic orphanage in which they grew up. 40 stunt drivers help the brothers destroy sixty ($400) police cars in the chase scene  — a record broken only by the film’s 2000 sequel. ▷Vanity:Making of ▹

Jake: Five grand? No problem, we’ll have it for you in the morning. Let’s go, Elwood.
Sister Mary Stigmata: No, no! I will not take your filthy stolen money!
Jake: Well then… I guess you’re really up Shit Creek.
Stigmata hits Jake Blues with a ruler
Stigmata: I beg your pardon, what did you say?
Jake: I offered to help you… You refused to take our money. Then I said: I guess you’re really up Shit Creek!
Stigmata hits Jake Blues again
Elwood: Christ, Jake. Take it easy man.
