September 7 – End of CBGB

1965

Rabid Bob Dylan releases yet another scathing revenge song, Positively 4th Street – (topped in caustic bile only by Like A Rolling Stone).

2005

NYC club CBGB – home of American punk rock – is served with an eviction notice.

CBGB opened in December, 1973 at 315 Bowery at Bleecker Street , intending to feature country and bluegrass! Instead it hosts emerging punk rock and New Wave artists like Ramones, Television, Patti Smith, The Voidoids, Blondie and Talking Heads.

CBGB was a dump and it was the only place to see certain types of artists. Punk was literally born on its dog sh*t encrusted floor boards.▷End of an Era▹
